They were part of the Kemma School district and community and attended a country school that was located at the south end of a hay field--and a spring creek ran just across the school ground fence. Barbara remembers kids riding horses to school, the school had a big barn on the grounds to tie the horses in, and the teacher pumped and carried the water from a pump located out in the pasture by the spring creek. She carried the water back to the school for the school children to drink. There were around 25 students in the school. Three children were born to this union: Barbara Jean, Ronald Richard and Beverly Joan.

Barbara Jean became a nurse. She married Gene Gillilan. They have three children: Joan Marie, Jodi An and Kenneth Eugene. Joan graduated from Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D. and is an R.N. She married Steve Hult and they have three daughters: Jennifer, Jessica and Megan. Jodi graduated from Midland Lutheran College with a degree in business and computers. She married Mike Timmerman and they have two daughters, Rachel and Melissa. Kenneth is married to Misty Acklie. He graduated from Northeast Community College with an associate degree in diesel technology. He is engaged in farming with his father. They are the parents of twin sons, Austin and Travis. Ken also has a daughter, Ashley, by a previous marriage.

Ronald grew up on a farm southwest of Bloomfield. He was confirmed at St. Mark Church, Bloomfield, and finished high school in 1962. Ron graduated from Kearney State College in 1966 with a B.S. in Language Arts; his first teaching job was in Platte Center, NE in 1966. After this small school closed, he obtained a teaching and coaching position at Lakeview High School; a new consolidated school of approximately 300 students. He left education for four years and operated 2,000 hives of honey bees. The price hit rock bottom in the honey business and as chance would have it, his old job opened at Lakeview. He has taught and coached at Lakeview since that time until the present (2001). Ronald married Cheryl Irish (12/21/68) and currently he and his wife lve on an acreage (11 acres) north of Columbus, NE. Cheryl works in the admission office of the Columbus Hospital. Ronald and Cheryl have four children: Richard, Sharla, Clinton and Melany. Richard and Mindy live in Kansas city, MO. He works for the New York Times. Sharla is a Registered Nurse and works at the Columbus Community Hospital. Her husband's name is Brandy Rudy. Clinton is a senior at the University of Nebraska, majoring in Criminal Justice. He will graduate this year. Melany is currently working in a managing position of a coffee outlet in Minneapolis, MN.

Beverly Joan lives and is a music teacher in a grade school at Hastings, NE. Bev was blest with a beautiful contralto voice and has done much solo work as well as shared her talent in church and with the students. Her family are all talented in the field of music. Beverly married Charles DeWall on August 22, 1971. They have three children: Erica Lou Ruby Gretchen, Beverly Nicole Barbara and Charles Nathan John. Erica is a graduate of Hastings College in Hastings, NE. She has majors in Spanish, Biology and Elementary Education. She is currently a language arts teacher for grades four and five. Beverly "Nichole" is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. She also earned her Master's degree in English Literature from the University of Nebraska in 2001. She is currently a Doctoral student in Renaissance Literature at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Charles "Nathan" is a Senior Psychology student at St. Olaf College in Northfield, NM. He is currently looking at graduate programs that he will enter next fall, earning his PhD in Clinical Psychology.
